The best community bike shop ever

june

*we've had great volunteers this month! Some Americorps volunteers spent a day thoroughly cleaning the outside of the shop and made the parking lot look immaculate, while former Peace Corps volunteers who served in Sierra Leone, Malawi, China and Niger, spent a Saturday stripping bikes, painting with kids, sorting through parts... thanks to all!

*Plan B (www.bikeproject.org) has donated their kid's bikes to us. We picked up a bunch this month and plan on getting more in the future.

*The Sibley Bike Depot in St. Paul, MN (www.bikeped.org) sent a shipment of sweet bikes to RUBARB. we now have a bunch of 3 speeds available for fixing up/purchase. Thanks fellow bike supporters!

*our very own Josh Willis competed in an alley cat and came in 8th place!

may

*5/17 carl, lani, liz and 17 kids from RUBARB went to the beach in waveland, ms!  we spent the whole day frolicking in the water, playing in the sand, picknicking, flying kites and running around.  stay tuned for photos..

*5/20 lani's bday!  (not entirely RUBARB related, but many members did help organize a bike adventure around the city for this momentous occasion)

*the heat is on!  we now has a kiddie pool and sprinkler and are working on getting a spicket hooked up so we can stay cool this summer.

april

*about 10 kids from RUBARB helped mbc (www.metrobicyclecoalition.org) assemble safety kits for their blinky light giveaway.  kids put together headlights and stuffed bags with patch kits, tire levers and flyers.

*we now has a newsletter!  issue #1 came out this month, full of info, photos, safety tips, and interviews with the kids of rubarb.  some are lurking in local coffee shops and elsewhere.

*thanks to the jazz and heritage foundation (www.jazzandheritage.org), we were awarded 6 free tickets to jazzfest!  their community tickets program awards thousands of tickets each year to organizations and community groups around the city.
